Amid escalating clashes between Syrian government forces and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a series of disturbances have resulted in the breakout of prisoners affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) from various detention facilities. Recent reports indicate that more than 1,500 ISIS inmates may have escaped, with U.S. officials estimating around 200 prisoners freed during the turmoil. The situation intensified as Kurdish forces abandoned key camps, including the notorious al-Hol camp housing IS families, amidst fears of a security vacuum.
