Critical Fire Weather Conditions Expected Across Minnesota This Weekend

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for 61 counties in Minnesota due to elevated wildfire risks prompted by warm temperatures and dry conditions. The National Weather Service warns of extreme fire danger as conditions are set to worsen over the weekend, with temperatures nearing 90 degrees and increased winds. Nearly 500 wildfires have already been reported in the state since April 1, prompting local authorities and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to prepare for potential wildfires and advise residents to take precautions. The fire danger is expected to persist until late Monday night. Campers and outdoor enthusiasts are especially urged to remain vigilant to avoid life-altering incidents related to wildfires.
