The only gubernatorial debate in New York saw Governor Kathy Hochul and challenger Bruce Blakeman spar on critical issues such as immigration, rising living costs, and the influence of former President Trump. Hochul aimed to keep the focus on Trump, whereas Blakeman criticized her record and addressed recent controversies, including responses to antisemitism and sanctuary policies following a notable ICE shooting. The debate turned tense as both candidates traded barbs, with Hochul on the defensive at times. As they made their final pitches to voters three weeks before the election, New Yorkers reacted strongly to the fiery exchanges and pointed arguments, making the debate a significant event in the lead-up to Election Day.
