Kremlin Insists on Arms Delivery Cessation as Condition for Ukraine Ceasefire
The Kremlin has reiterated its stance that any agreement for a ceasefire in Ukraine must include a halt to arms deliveries from Western countries. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is open to considering a 30-day ceasefire proposal but emphasized that such negotiations are contingent upon the cessation of weapon supplies to Ukraine. The Kremlin has criticized European leaders’ calls for an immediate truce as confrontational, describing their statements as lacking understanding of the situation. Meanwhile, Russian officials indicate that the proposal for a ceasefire will be examined, yet they maintain a tough stance against the flow of arms into Ukraine. As tensions rise over the issue, the impact of potential Western sanctions has also been downplayed by Russian authorities.
