Major League Soccer (MLS) has finalized the format and participation for the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which will feature a 96-team field, significantly increasing the number of MLS teams involved. All 30 MLS clubs will partake in revamped North American cup competitions, including the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup. A total of 16 MLS teams are set to compete in the U.S. Open Cup, effectively doubling their representation. Notable teams such as Nashville SC, FC Dallas, and Chicago Fire have confirmed their participation, while adjustments to cup qualifying criteria have been made for various teams. The schedule for the U.S. Open Cup has also been released, marking an exciting year ahead for soccer in the region.
