Severe Heatwave Sweeps Uttar Pradesh as Banda Becomes Hottest City in India
Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing a brutal heatwave, with Banda recording temperatures soaring to an alarming 48.2 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest place in India. In an unusual weather phenomenon, all of the planet’s 50 hottest cities were found in India on a single day, highlighting the severity of the heat. The extreme weather has led to a red alert being issued in various districts, prompting authorities, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to direct residents to remain vigilant against heat-related illnesses. While the intense heat is causing significant discomfort across the state, recent rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to bring some relief, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light showers in several regions. As cities brace for possible thunderstorms and heavy rain, concerns about the ongoing heatwave continue, especially in regions like Kanpur and Moradabad, where temperatures have also reached up to 46 degrees Celsius.
