In a significant step towards healing historical wounds, Poland has held a series of burials for the remains of wartime victims in western Ukraine. Notably, the remains of Polish victims of WWII massacres by Ukrainian nationalists were reburied in ceremonies in Puzhnyky and other locations. Ukrainian and Polish teams collaborated to honor the 42 victims exhumed in Ternopil village. These efforts are aimed at easing tensions between the two nations, as they acknowledge the complex and painful history of wartime atrocities. The burial of the Polish massacre victims signifies a commitment to reconciliation, with further plans for the exhumation of Ukrainian victims in Poland to follow.
