Smithsonian Launches New America 250 Exhibit Showcasing Natural and Cultural Heritage

The Smithsonian Institution is set to unveil a new exhibit marking America’s 250th anniversary, featuring over 600 specimens and artifacts that represent the natural history and cultural heritage of all 50 states. Highlights include the centuries-old Menominee canoe representing Wisconsin, a bison calf on display, and objects from states such as North Dakota, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The exhibit will showcase unique artifacts such as the last passenger pigeon, a horseshoe crab representing Delaware, and broken pieces of Mammoth Cave, emphasizing the diversity of American history and nature. Visitors can also discover the history of Oregon and the Maryland blue crab through various displays. This celebration aims to engage audiences with the natural world and cultural narratives that define the United States.
