Virginia Tech and James Madison University (JMU) have officially canceled their non-conference football game scheduled for 2026. This decision follows a scheduling change in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), which led Virginia Tech to seek alternatives. As part of the cancellation, Virginia Tech has agreed to pay JMU $800,000. JMU has swiftly adjusted their plans and added a matchup against San Diego State in Southern California for the same year. This marks a significant pivot for both universities as they reshuffle their football schedules.
