Severe Winter Storm Causes Hazards and Road Closures in Kentucky and Indiana
A significant winter storm has struck Louisville, Kentucky, and southern Indiana, resulting in hazardous travel conditions and numerous accidents. The I-264 west ramp to Newburg Road is currently closed, with law enforcement responding to a series of crashes on icy roads. Kentucky State Police reported injuries to multiple troopers involved in accidents during the storm, including a trooper injured on I-65. Road conditions are deteriorating, making some areas impassable. Local authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and provided guidance on driving in icy conditions. Currently, Lexington Police reported responding to at least 30 weather-related traffic incidents, while TRIMARC noted that all lanes on I-264 West ramp are blocked. Calls for stranded vehicles and accidents have surged as ice blankets the roads.
