The Eisenhower Expressway has reopened following an extensive investigation into a fatal incident involving a person found dead in an SUV, which was surrounded by shell casings. The investigation shut down I-290 for more than eight hours, causing significant traffic delays as federal and state law enforcement, including the FBI, DEA, and ATF, responded to the scene. Authorities also investigated an explosion related to the incident. Motorists faced miles-long backups during the investigation, but the expressway ultimately reopened after law enforcement completed their work.
