Cornell University is currently under intense scrutiny from faculty and students alike in the wake of a gang rape allegation involving fraternity members. The university president has been grilled by the Faculty Senate over his response to allegations of sexual misconduct, with many faculty members expressing frustration and considering a no-confidence vote. While more than a dozen students were found responsible for sexual assault, only two faced expulsion, prompting calls for significant changes to fraternity culture and campus safety protocols. In response, Cornell has suspended all fraternity parties and is re-evaluating its Greek life policies. The president admitted to a lack of follow-up on the allegations, further aggravating trust issues within the university community. The situation has sparked debates about the effectiveness of Title IX and the safety measures provided to survivors, as students demand urgent action and transparency. As the investigation continues, other universities are also reassessing their processes in light of the events at Cornell.
