The Floriston Fire, burning southwest of Reno and north of Lake Tahoe, has consumed over 600 acres and prompted significant multi-agency responses. The fire has caused the closure of westbound lanes on Interstate 80, affecting travel between Nevada and California. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, including the use of night-flying helicopters, but containment remains low at around 5%. Air quality advisories have also been issued for the Reno-Sparks area due to smoke from the fire.
