Wildfires Force Mass Evacuations in Arizona and Colorado Amid Severe Conditions

Wildfires are wreaking havoc in Arizona and Colorado, forcing mass evacuations in and around major national parks, including the Grand Canyon and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The White Sage Fire near the Grand Canyon has expanded dramatically, growing to 19,000 acres and prompting widespread evacuations. Additional fires in Western Colorado have resulted in mandatory evacuation orders in Montrose County and forced closures of several park areas. The South Rim Fire is particularly concerning, having rapidly increased in size to almost 3,000 acres without containment. Residents and visitors are being advised to evacuate as air quality deteriorates due to smoke blanketing large regions across the Midwest and western states.
