US Defense Secretary Hegseth Issues Stern Warning to Europe on Troop Presence and Defense Spending

During his recent visit to Europe, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized that the presence of American troops on the continent cannot be taken for granted and warned European allies to increase their defense spending. Hegseth highlighted the U.S.-Poland alliance, calling Poland a model ally, and urged NATO countries to invest more in their own defense capabilities. While he reassured that there are currently no plans to withdraw U.S. troops from Europe, he remarked that military support from the U.S. is not an indefinite guarantee. Polish officials leveraged the visit to discuss increased defense purchases and joint ammunition production with the U.S.
