Tragic Mass Stranding of False Killer Whales in Tasmania
More than 150 false killer whales have stranded on a remote beach in Tasmania, Australia, leading experts to declare the situation grim. Despite efforts to rescue the whales, the prospects for their survival are bleak, with officials planning to euthanize numerous individuals among the stranded pod. Initial estimates indicated that 157 whales were beached, marking one of the largest mass stranding events in the region in 50 years. Many are reported to be suffering, and after unsuccessful attempts to refloat them, the decision has been made to euthanize 90 of these whales as part of the response to this heartbreaking event.
