Cargo Ship Carrying Electric Vehicles Sinks in the Pacific After Prolonged Fire Battle
A cargo ship named Morning Midas, which was transporting 3,000 vehicles, including 800 electric vehicles (EVs), has sunk in the North Pacific Ocean following a three-week fire on board. The blaze started weeks prior while the ship was en route to Mexico and left the ship abandoned off the coast of Alaska. The incident raises significant environmental concerns due to the potential release of toxic materials from the EV batteries. Despite efforts from the Coast Guard to control the fire, the vessel ultimately succumbed to the flames and sank in international waters.
