Philadelphia Commemorates 40th Anniversary of MOVE Bombing
As Philadelphia marks the 40th anniversary of the MOVE bombing, reflections and discussions abound regarding the tragic events of that day in 1985, when police dropped a bomb on a residential neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals. Community members, city officials, and survivors are engaging in conversations about the impact and continuing scars of the bombing. The Philadelphia City Council has introduced resolutions honoring the victims and calling for reflection on the city’s past decisions. Various events, including symposiums and memorials, are being held to remember the victims and encourage dialogue about the lessons learned – or unlearned – since that harrowing day.
