Hurricane Milton Causes Water Service Disruptions Across Tampa Bay Area
As Hurricane Milton approaches, several cities in the Tampa Bay area, including St. Petersburg and Venice, are implementing significant water service shutdowns and restrictions. St. Petersburg has shut off drinking water due to a water main break and is urging residents to boil water and limit usage as sewage treatment plants are also shut down. The city's Northeast and Southwest sewage plants are back online after the storm, but officials continue to emphasize caution. In addition, barrier islands are facing water service restrictions, prompting local authorities to advise the public on health risks and the importance of conserving water. Evacuation orders have been lifted, but residents are still urged to avoid unnecessary travel. The Toho Water Authority and Hillsborough County also announced emergency measures ahead of the hurricane.
