Water Service Alerts and Shutdowns Ahead of Hurricane Milton

As Hurricane Milton approaches, significant disruptions to water services are being implemented across the Tampa Bay area. St. Petersburg has issued a citywide drinking water alert due to a major water line break and will shut down water service at midnight. Additionally, the city is closing its northeast and southwest sewage treatment plants due to the potential threat from storm surges. Other regions are following suit, with the City of Venice also set to shut off water services. Residents in St. Pete Beach are urged to evacuate, and grocery stores have reported a rush on bottled water supplies. With restrictions on potable water services on barrier islands, authorities are advising communities to limit water use in anticipation of the impacts of Hurricane Milton.
