Severe Storms and Tornadoes Hit Alabama, Resulting in Multiple Deaths and Widespread Damage
Alabama experienced a devastating outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes, resulting in confirmed reports of nine tornadoes across the state. The storms left a trail of destruction, notably in areas such as Sipsey and Winterboro, where significant damage occurred and at least three fatalities have been reported. Residents in Jackson’s Gap and Calera began cleanup efforts as the community dealt with the aftermath, which included homes destroyed and a school bus being thrown onto the roof of a high school gymnasium. The National Weather Service has categorized several tornadoes, including an EF-1 in Lauderdale County. Communities, such as those in Gordo and Maplesville, rallied to aid recovery efforts as officials continue to assess the extensive damage caused by the storms.
