Boeing Defense Workers Strike Amid Contract Dispute
More than 3,000 Boeing defense workers have gone on strike after rejecting a recent contract offer, marking the first time in nearly three decades that such action has been taken by the company’s defense unit. The strike, which involves about 3,200 workers from various locations including St. Louis, disrupts production of critical military aircraft such as the F-15 and F/A-18 fighter jets. The strike began following failed negotiations between Boeing and the union, IAM District 837, which represents the machinists. This labor action comes as Boeing grapples with ongoing reputational issues and labor strife, highlighting the challenges faced by one of the largest aerospace companies in the world.
