USDA Announces Major Reorganization and Relocation of Employees

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has unveiled a comprehensive reorganization plan that will involve relocating more than half of its Washington D.C. staff to regional hubs across the country, including Kansas City, Indianapolis, and North Carolina. This significant move aims to decentralize operations and bring the agency closer to farmers, as stated by Agriculture Secretary Rollins. Critics, however, view this decision as a strategy to reduce jobs within the USDA, with thousands of employees forced to choose whether to relocate or leave the agency. The plan includes the closure of several buildings in D.C. and the vacating of the Beltsville research center, consolidating dozens of offices as the USDA transitions to a more field-focused approach.
