Escalating Violence in Sudan: Hundreds Dead Amid Paramilitary Attacks
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has resulted in catastrophic casualties, with reports indicating that dozens, if not hundreds, have been killed due to attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in various regions, particularly in Al Jazirah state. At least 124 individuals were confirmed killed in an RSF assault on a village, while other recent skirmishes and airstrikes have left numerous civilians dead and injured. Activists and humanitarian groups have condemned these attacks, highlighting the hidden horrors being faced by civilians, including reports of sexual violence and mass casualties. The UN has called for protection of civilians amidst escalating violence, following a series of retaliatory strikes and attacks that have led to significant loss of life and displacement.
