The water supplier indicated that while hackers breached its systems, they believe that water and wastewater facilities were not affected. As a precautionary measure, American Water Works temporarily paused billing operations following the cyber attack. The company has stated that IT systems were impacted; however, operational technology (OT) remained unaffected. Despite the disruption, they are working to ensure customer services continue with minimal interruption.
