New Cybersecurity Standards Announced for Defense Contractors
The Department of Defense (DoD) has officially published the final rule for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program, establishing new compliance standards that are set to begin implementation next year. This regulation aims to enhance cybersecurity measures within the U.S. Defense supply chain. Notably, the CMMC 2.0 framework has emerged amidst concerns, as a recent study indicated that only 4% of DoD contractors are currently prepared for the new requirements. Industry stakeholders are urged to utilize provided resources to ensure compliance, as failure to meet these federal cybersecurity obligations could have serious implications. Meanwhile, the University of Wisconsin-Stout has received a $125,000 grant to support initiatives aimed at improving cybersecurity capabilities in the defense sector.
