Istanbul is experiencing unprecedented flooding due to the heaviest rainfall in over 80 years, resulting in at least three confirmed deaths and significant chaos across the city. Heavy rains have paralyzed transportation, with traffic hitting 90% saturation as roads collapse and cars are swept away. Many areas have been deemed unsafe, prompting officials to close schools and divert flights as the situation grimly unfolds. Rescue operations are underway for those trapped, with authorities warning of continued severe weather in the coming days. The tragic impact of the flooding, including at least one child electrocuted amid the chaos, highlights the urgent need for improved urban planning to mitigate such disasters in the future.
