A rare 311-year-old Stradivarius violin, crafted in 1714, has been sold at auction for $11.25 million, supporting scholarships at the New England Conservatory. The instrument, recognized as one of the finest works by the legendary maker Antonio Stradivari, was auctioned by Sotheby’s and while it fetched an impressive sum, it fell short of setting a new record for the highest price ever paid for a musical instrument.
