Major Contracts Awarded for Missile-Tracking Satellites
The U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) has awarded significant contracts totaling approximately $3.5 billion for the development of 72 missile-tracking satellites. Key defense contractors, including Rocket Lab, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and L3Harris, are set to play pivotal roles in this initiative. Rocket Lab received an $816 million contract specifically to build a satellite constellation for missile defense. L3Harris was awarded a contract worth $843 million to enhance its capabilities in missile tracking, while Lockheed Martin secured a $1 billion deal for additional satellite development. With these initiatives, the SDA is ramping up efforts to enhance U.S. missile defense capabilities through next-generation satellite technology.
