USDA Cancels Funding for Climate-Smart Farming Initiatives
The USDA has announced the cancellation of the Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities program, along with a $3 billion grant initiative aimed at promoting climate-friendly farming practices. This decision marks a significant shift in agricultural funding priorities, moving away from climate-focused projects established during previous administrations. In light of these changes, the USDA is rebranding and redirecting its efforts towards supporting farmers through a new initiative named Advancing Markets for Producers. Meanwhile, stakeholders and grantees are left anxiously waiting for further decisions regarding the future of ongoing projects.
