China Enhances Lunar Exploration Collaboration with the US and International Partners
In a significant move amid ongoing trade tensions, China has begun sharing rare moon rocks collected from its Chang’e-5 mission with US scientists and institutions. This includes cooperation with NASA-funded universities, allowing researchers to study the lunar samples. Additionally, China has announced its plans to launch the Chang’e-8 mission to the lunar south pole around 2029, selecting ten international projects for collaboration. The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has also emphasized its commitment to enhancing deep-space exploration through partnerships with global scientists, as evidenced by the recent access granted to international researchers for studying the Chang’e-5 lunar samples.
