Seattle Celebrates the Opening of the Historic Crosslake Connection Light Rail
In a significant milestone for public transportation, Seattle has officially launched its Crosslake Connection, the world’s first light rail service across a floating bridge, linking the city to the Eastside. Crowds gathered on opening day, leading to hours-long lines as eager riders experienced the new 2 Line service. With the rail now connecting Seattle and Bellevue, residents can better access the region’s major employers, including Microsoft and Amazon. The launch has been celebrated as a transformation of commuter travel in the Puget Sound region, offering a new route for tourists and residents alike. As the system begins service, local transit authorities have also announced expansions to bus services to accommodate increased travel demand. Community events are planned to celebrate this new transit era, while discussions continue about future expansion and funding for additional lines.
