The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has rejected multiple turnaround proposals from the Austin Independent School District (ISD) aimed at addressing the issues facing three struggling middle schools. This rejection places Austin ISD at greater risk of a state takeover as the agency also denied their application for an accountability pause and additional funding. With these decisions, the district is left vulnerable and closer to state intervention due to the ongoing struggles of its failing campuses.
