In a historic visit, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain traveled to the North African enclave of Ceuta, marking their first royal trip to the territory in nearly two decades. The visit comes at a time when Ceuta is grappling with a protracted migration crisis, which has heightened tensions with Morocco and exposed deep divides within the local communities. Public sentiment indicates that many Spaniards believe this crisis could potentially lead to armed conflict with Morocco. As the royal couple toured Ceuta, crowds gathered to affirm their Spanish identity, while reports emerged of police clearing makeshift migrant camps ahead of the official visit. The ongoing situation remains sensitive, with allegations of mistreatment of migrants surfacing amid the local strife.
