Multiple Sentences Handed Down for COVID-19 Relief Fraud
Several individuals involved in fraudulent schemes related to COVID-19 relief funds have received significant prison sentences. Nathan Reis, co-founder of the Paycheck Protection Program lender Blueacorn, was sentenced to 10 years for his role in a $65 million fraud scheme. Additionally, the husband of a former Phoenix news anchor also faced a 10-year sentence for his involvement in loan fraud. Similarly, a former bank vice president from Wichita Falls was sentenced to prison for fraudulent activities connected to COVID-19 loans.
