Tensions Rise Over Restrictions at Al-Aqsa Mosque During Ramadan

As Ramadan begins, Israel has imposed significant restrictions on access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, focusing on age limits for Muslim worshippers. Initially, 90,000 Muslims attended prayers at the Temple Mount, but subsequent measures have seen only older Palestinians and those aged 12 and under allowed entry. Israeli officials have heightened security, deploying an additional 3,000 police in East Jerusalem in anticipation of the first Friday prayers. Amidst tight controls, Hamas has urged Palestinians to resist these limitations and has called for protests against Israeli policy. The situation remains tense, with concerns over clashes as Israeli settlers, supported by police, have also stormed the mosque compound.
