Significant Crackdown on Human Trafficking in Myanmar
In recent operations, hundreds of foreigners have been freed from scam centers in Myanmar, with reports stating that 260 individuals have been repatriated to Thailand. Among the rescued victims are 15 Malaysians, highlighting the international nature of this human trafficking issue. Authorities from Thailand confirmed the reception of these victims, and significant efforts are being made to assist those trapped in virtual slavery across various locations. The Karen militia has called for the expulsion of Chinese scam gangs operating in these areas, and ongoing crackdowns have seen over 300 victims released after an electricity shutdown disrupts the operations of these illegal centers. Furthermore, there remains concern for an estimated 7,000 individuals still awaiting freedom. Authorities intensify their measures against human trafficking as they prepare for the influx of the freed victims.
