A chaotic scene unfolded at the Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Atlanta as an armed suspect barricaded inside the building opened fire, prompting a heavy police response including SWAT teams. The suspect, who was reported to be wearing a Halloween mask and exhibiting agitated behavior, fired more than 15 rounds from the hotel balcony while throwing furniture off the ledge. An Atlanta Police Department officer sustained injuries during the standoff, which lasted several hours.
