A series of threats has led to lockdowns at several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the South, raising significant security concerns on campuses. Alabama State University canceled classes and initiated a lockdown following a specific threat, while Virginia State University and Hampton University also temporarily closed their campuses due to credible threats under investigation by local, state, and federal authorities. Other institutions, including Southern University, Clark Atlanta University, and Spelman College, implemented shelter-in-place orders and canceled activities in response to the escalating situation. Although some lockdowns have been lifted, many HBCUs remain vigilant as threats continue to be reported, leading to heightened security measures across multiple campuses nationwide.
