Bird Flu Outbreak Triggers Poultry Sales Halt and Medical Response in Georgia and Connecticut

In response to the detection of bird flu in both commercial and backyard poultry flocks, Georgia has suspended all poultry activities and sales. The state’s agriculture department confirmed multiple cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, including in a commercial operation and various backyard flocks. Officials have reassured the public about the safety of consuming chicken meat, despite the outbreak. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has allocated $590 million for flu vaccines to address potential health risks. In Connecticut, similar cases of bird flu have been detected in backyard flocks, prompting heightened biosecurity measures and public advisories for poultry owners. Both states are actively managing the situation to contain the spread of the virus.
