Threats Prompt Lockdowns at Multiple Historically Black Colleges and Universities
Several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have implemented lockdowns due to a series of potential threats received across the nation. Institutions including Southern University and Virginia State University have taken precautionary measures, canceling classes and heightening security. The FBI has labeled some of these threats, particularly those directed at Hampton University, as hoaxes. Despite this, the situation has caused significant disruption, with various colleges issuing shelter-in-place orders and temporarily closing campuses. Some lockdowns have since been lifted, but many HBCUs remain on alert, reflecting the heightened tension following recent violent incidents and the ongoing concern for the safety of students and staff.
