Recent waves of attacks by Russian forces on food warehouses and logistics centers across Ukraine have resulted in significant destruction and supply chain disruptions. With approximately 90% of modern storage facilities in Ukraine reportedly destroyed, Ukrainian supermarkets are experiencing empty shelves, particularly in major cities like Kyiv, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The assaults on vital infrastructure, including several distribution centers serving major retail chains such as VARUS and Auchan, have not only impacted food availability but also caused a drop in visitor numbers at shopping centers. Despite these challenges, officials express that food shortages might not be imminent, but the situation remains precarious as air raid alerts continue and the threat to commercial operations intensifies.
