Canyon Fire Leads to Mass Evacuations in Southern California
A fast-moving wildfire, known as the Canyon Fire, has rapidly spread in Ventura County and adjacent areas of Los Angeles County, burning over 1,500 acres and prompting evacuation orders for thousands of residents. The fire escalated from just 50 acres to more than 1,000 acres within hours, forcing emergency evacuations, particularly near Lake Piru and the Val Verde area. Fire crews are actively engaged in combating the blaze, with water-dropping aircraft being deployed. Authorities have issued multiple evacuation orders and are monitoring conditions closely as the fire continues to grow amid the extreme heat wave affecting the region.
