Hurricane Isaias Causes Widespread Destruction Across Gulf Coast
Hurricane Isaias has wreaked havoc along the Gulf Coast, resulting in at least four deaths and leaving about 670,000 people without power in both Florida and Alabama. The hurricane made landfall as a Category 2 storm, ripping roofs off buildings, including a motel in Pensacola and the family home of a Milton resident now living under a tarp. As the storm moved north, residents were left to assess the extensive damage and begin recovery efforts. Images and videos following Isaias showcase the devastation. Power outages and closures are still prevalent in the affected areas, with Alabama Power citing severe tree damage as a main cause. Rescue teams are mobilizing to assist impacted communities as remnants of the storm continue to bring heavy rain into the Southeast.
