Pope Leo XIV has embarked on a 12-day tour of South America, starting in Uruguay, where he urged the faithful to bridge divides and build fraternity through faith. This visit, following his recent cancer surgery, brings him to a region grappling with declining religious observance and rising secularism. Addressing a crowd of 40,000 at his first Mass, the Pope championed universal healthcare, calling it a duty of every society, and confronted social issues such as drug violence and the moral challenges of abortion and euthanasia. As he travels through Argentina and Peru, his messages of hope and encouragement to the youth will be pivotal in rekindling their interest in the Church.
