Disruption at New Orleans Mardi Gras Parades Due to Aggressive Bead Throwing Incidents
In recent Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, two significant incidents have led to the removal of riders from parade floats due to aggressive bead throwing. Members of the Krewe of Thoth were removed from Float 32 after throwing beads at federal agents and revelers displaying anti-ICE signs, as reported by the NOPD. Similarly, 41 riders from the Krewe of Carrollton were kicked off their float for throwing beads at police officers, prompting a meeting between parade organizers and law enforcement. Despite the aggressive actions, the NOPD later announced that no criminal charges would be filed against the riders involved in these incidents. The Mayor of New Orleans, alongside Senator John Kennedy, condemned the actions of the riders, labeling them as disgraceful and calling for accountability in future parades.
