US envoy Steve Witkoff is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin after holding positive discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Norway. This meeting comes amid ongoing tensions between Zelensky and former President Trump, who has expressed pressure on Kyiv regarding the conflict with Russia. While Zelensky has voiced optimism about negotiating peace and has thanked the US for their support, he also pointed out the severe toll the war is taking on Ukraine. The meetings aim to present new peace proposals and assess the situation following the recent intelligence-sharing discussions. As Witkoff prepares for his trip to St. Petersburg, there are concerns about the effectiveness of the support offered by the US amidst claims of strained relations.
