A Kenyan court has recently convicted two Belgian teenagers who were found with 5,000 protected ants while attempting to smuggle them out of the country. They have been given the option of paying a fine of $7,700 or serving a one-year prison sentence. Additionally, four other individuals involved in similar trafficking activities have also been fined $7,700 each by the court. This case has drawn attention as Kenya continues to combat increasing trends in wildlife trafficking, particularly involving unique species.
