Travis Timmerman, an American who identified himself as a pilgrim, has been found in Syria after spending seven months imprisoned. He was located wandering barefoot in a suburb of Damascus and reportedly crossed into Syria on foot. His release comes amid ongoing tensions in the region and coincides with recent Israeli strikes on Syrian ports. Timmerman is not to be confused with the journalist Austin Tice, who is also missing in Syria. The circumstances surrounding his detention and subsequent release were facilitated by Syrian rebels.
