Measles Cases and Exposure Reports Surge in Virginia and Maryland

Recent reports indicate that a case of measles has been confirmed in Howard County, Maryland, which is unrelated to a broader outbreak in the Southwest United States. Health officials noted that travelers at DC’s Dulles Airport may have been exposed to measles, prompting further investigation by the Virginia Department of Health. Additionally, a Maryland resident has tested positive for measles after international travel, and the case has been traced back to a traveler at Dulles Airport. Although Virginia has recorded a confirmed case, health officials state that the state is currently free from measles cases despite a nationwide rise in infections. Tragically, two deaths have been reported across the country due to the ongoing outbreak.
